Mentor-Tutor
We are looking for passionate individuals who can assist the Teens Act in mentoring and tutoring students. If you are interested in teaching, leadership, and have good communication skills as well as a passion for helping teenagers succeed, please apply! # of Positions: 6
Provo High (PHS), Timpview High (THS), Independence High (IHS)
Note: This is credit earning internship, volunteer position
Deadline: Open until filled and priority will be given to early applicants
Hours: 4 - 6 hours a week, more hours are available if needed for internships. 30 minutes of availability between 10:45-12:15 one or more times per week is preferred. Semester commitment
Location: At high schools. Remote access to teachers, students and staff as needed
We follow local, county, and state policies in response to COVID 19. Teens Act continues to offer its services consistent with the school district, the local universities, community and state directives. As necessary our services will be managed through digital systems for program oversight, delivery of instruction, mentoring, and support services.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead Mentor-Teacher in the Student Success Class. Assist with students as needed in other assigned school classes, in the After School Mentoring Program and the Parent Support Program
- Mentor-tutor students to pass current classes, recover lost credits (failed classes) and improve success skills
- Motivate and encourage students to participate in opportunities and take advantage of resources provided by the school, Teens Act and the community to succeed in high school and prepare for higher education
- Attend regular team meetings
Qualifications:
- Be a strong team member
- College level academic skills to help students with their school work
- Previous experience in teaching, mentoring, or working with under-resourced youth is a plus
- Spanish proficiency is a plus
- Be able to work about between 4-6 hours a week (meetings + class hours) for at least a semester preferred, more hours available for internship if needed
- One year commitment is a plus
