Student Success Class

Teens Act provides a research-based curriculum through its student success elective class which is divided into two sections:
Instructional Section: In this section, leadership, personal development and practical life skills are taught to students in order to help them improve their self and their interactions with others. Students will receive instruction that helps them make and achieve goals for academic and personal success. Lessons will cover topics such as: resiliency, self-discipline, goal setting, time management, mindset, leadership, awareness of talents and interests, resume writing, job interview strategies, and career exploration.
Mentoring Section: This section of the class is filled with interactions between students and volunteer mentors. Teens Act strives to provide a minimum 5:1 ratio of students to mentors so that each student has an opportunity to receive personalized one-on-one assistance with their academic and life pursuits. Mentors review lesson material with each student to make sure the student has a firm understanding of what was taught. Mentors also provide tutoring to students by assisting them with assignments and materials from STEM and elective classes. Mentors review goals and plans with students each week to make sure that students are on track to graduate and to achieve their personal goals. Each student will have a meaningful relationship with the mentors that will empower them to achieve success.
